 The North Carolina Society (NCS) is pleased to accept candidates’ applications for three (3) scholarship opportunities for the 2025–2026 academic year, via the Eula Wilson Wake and Chandler Mason Memorial scholarship funds, celebrating academic excellence, community service, and strong connections to the state of North Carolina. Each of the three (3) scholarships will provide $5,000 in academic funding, payable in two (2) equal installments of $2,500 per semester (Fall 2025 & Spring 2026).

Application Guidelines

Applications are due by June 1, 2025 (5:00 PM ET)
Announcements are expected mid-July.

Eligibility Requirements – Qualified candidates must be: 

  1. Born in NC, currently living in NC, or the child or close family member of an NCS member in good standing.

  2. Enrolled in undergraduate studies at an accredited public or private college or university in NC.

  3. Sponsored by an NCS member. If you do not have a sponsor and would like assistance with identifying one, email: northcarolinasociety@gmail.com.

Application Requirements – Due by June 1:

Personal Letter – Addressed to Elizabeth Adkins, President of the NC Society, detailing:

  • Academic standing

  • Financial need

  • Goals and reasons for seeking a college education

  • Extracurricular activities and community service

  • Any other relevant background for the Selection Committee [1]

Transcripts – Include high school and/or college transcripts

Two (2) Letters of Recommendation:

  • One (1) from a teacher or professor

  • One (1) from a member of the NC Society

  • Include all documents in a single email with the subject line: “SCHOLARSHIP – [Your First and Last Names]”

[1] Considerations: 1. What is your current or intended college/university and field of study?; 2. Do you need assistance with meeting a potential sponsor?; 3. Do you have any unique ties to the state of NC that you would like to highlight?; 4. Have you previously received funding from the NC Society? If yes, please indicate which year.; 5. Will you be receiving other substantial financial awards for the 2025 – 2026 academic year? (e.g., academic, athletic/NIL, nonprofit, faith-based, etc.).
